Day 2:

We reserved Chichen Itza Day trip including Lunch. Chichen Itza is on the seven wonders of the world. Chichen ITza is about 2 h 10 min, 196.6 km from Cancun.

Our first stop was at Cenote Ik kil.

Ik Kil is a cenote outside Pisté in the Tinúm Municipality, Yucatán, Mexico. It is located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula and is part of the Ik Kil Archeological Park near Chichen Itza. We had about an hour to 2 hours there. Some of us went on swimming and diving in the Cenote. Water was so cold. There are lockers and showers at this place for freshen up before or after the swim. You need to walk down to get to the Cenote.

Lunch at Mexican authenticate restaurant. Food was tasty and good. It’s also a rest room stop:)

Afternoon stop is at Chichen Itza. Our guide was so knowledgeable, he was keep on talking. The whole place reminded us the movie, Apocalypto. The King Kukulkan, Sun gods, harvests, human sacrifice . Every where there are so many stories of sacrifices.

Chichén Itzá is a complex of Mayan ruins on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. A massive step pyramid, known as El Castillo or Temple of Kukulcan. It was built in around 600 A.D. to the 1200s. There are still carvings, court yard with ball hoops and skull rock.

During the Spring (20th of March) and Autumn Equinox (22nd September), sunrays creates a shadow across the Kukulkan Pyramid that gives the appearance of a serpent slithering down the staircase.

Located on the north side of the Kukulkan Pyramid is a platform dedicated to the planet Venus. The Mayans were devoted astronomers and the movements of Venus held special meaning to them, with it influencing the architecture of the ancient Mayan city Uxmal.

Many of the sites in Chichen Itza are known for their unusual sounds. If you clap once from one end of the Ball Court, it produces nine echoes in the middle of the court. Additionally, a clap in front of the Kukulkan Pyramid creates an echo resembling the serpent’s chirp.

Day 3:

XCaret Park

XCaret has so many activities, you can easily spend more than a day here. There are many attractions in the XCaret. While entering the park, they will sell the tickets for some of the special events. Adrenalina, Snuba & Reef , Sharks – A hands on adventure, Paraxute, Stingray Encounter, Dinner and show, Swim with Dolphins, Sea Trek Tour etc., We bought tickets for Sea Trek and Swim with Dolphins.

Underground river walk, beaches, some shows, very nice buffet, butterfly garden, birds chirping, nice sandy beach, relaxing zone with cool breeze.

Sea Trek Tour : Walking inside the water along the reef and experience the colorful fish, and turtles.

Swim with Dolphins : You can touch, hug and swim with dolphins here.

Evening ended with a huge Dance Show. Stadium is so big, the views were far.

Day 4 & 5 :

Jungle Tour and Half a day snorkeling.

Coco Bongo :

Bought VIP tickets from the resort. They gave as ride from the hotel. You need VIP tickets to stand or sit for few mins in the show. Otherwise dance floor is crowded and no space to stand. Amazing show with performances and live music. Very impressed and comparable to Vegas shows.

Relaxing day at the resort and beach on day 5.
