Sydney
Sydney a famous city that has so many things to do.
- Sydney Opera House
- Sydney Harbour Bridge – Climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge
- The Rocks
- Taronga Zoo
- Sydney harbour sightseeing cruise
- Circular Quay
- Bondi beach
- Darling Harbour
- Featherdale wildlife park
- Blue Mountain Tours
- Cockatoo Island
- Ferry to Manly beach
- Botanical gardens
Circular quay is the main ferry terminal that connects major attractions like Sydney Harbour, Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and The Rocks. It is buzzing area with many restaurants along side the harbour. There is ferries leaving every few minutes to different ports from here like Manly, Watsons Bay, Mosman and Taronga Zoo. This place is a connecting place for daily commuters as well. There is local train station as well from here.
Darling Harbour located in the heart of the Sydney and a short walk from city center. There are plenty of things to do at the Darling harbour. There are plenty of waterfront dinning options, and exploring the Australian animals there. Two of the most popular attractions are the Sea life Sydney Aquarium and the Wild life Sydney Zoo. You can see some of the native animals like Koalas and Kangaroos here. Darling Harbour also has the IMAX, laser skirmish and tenpin bowling, and Madame Tussauds. Across the Pyrmont Bridge, on the western side, is the Australian National Maritime Museum where you can climb aboard a submarine, destroyer and a sailing ship.
With the 3 days we have here is our plan:
Day 1 : Bondi Beach, SCG and Darling Harbour
We freshen up and took uber to Bondi Beach, our first stop. Famous beach in Sydney for surfing. Our second stop at SCG, it was a trip from outside and far away as we need to book a tour to go inside. Fox studio is right behind the SCG stadium. Darling harbour has sea life aquarium, madame tussadss and wild life aquarium. There seems to be 3 in 1 ticket as well. We did some walking and exploring in this area. Guess where did Marlin and Dory land in Australia looking for Nemo.. that was Darling harbour.
Day 2 : All-Inclusive Blue Mountains Day Trip with Featherdale wild life park and River Cruise
Featherdale Wild life park is a unique park where visitors can pet Kangaroos and Koalas. There are some unique Australian animals like Wombat and Red kangaroos in this park. You can even take a picture with Koala for $25.
Blue mountains is a must recommended attraction in Sydney. There are many walking trails and bird varieties in these mountains. Blue hazed valleys, water falls and lush pine forests makes it special for visitors. The mountains get their blue tint from the mass of Eucalyptus forests in the park. The Eucalyptus trees release oil to the atmosphere, which then mixes with water vapour and dust particles to reflect a blue haze. Our guide told a story about the three sisters and how their witch father made them rocks here. But there are many stories about the 3 rock formations called three sisters.
- Echo Point view of Three Sisters
- Three sisters
- Scenic World skyway /cableway
- Scenic Railway (world’s steepest passenger railway)
- Miners Valley
- Eucalyptus forests
- Katoomba falls
- Leura falls
You can spend at least a half a way exploring and hiking this place.
We stopped for lunch at Leura town. A small town with some tourist attractions. We bought some chocolates there.
After the blue mountains we stopped at Sydney Olympic park. Sydney Olympic Park is located 15 kms west of the Sydney central business district, in the area of the City of Parramatta. Our cruise started from Parramatta to Circular Quay under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Night views of the Harbour bridge, luna park and the Opera house looked awesome from the cruise.
Getting to the Blue mountain from Sydeny is easy by car, bus or train. If you are outside traveler, a day trip with a tour to Blue mountain is an easy option. It is cooler in Blue mountain compared to the Sydney weather. I would recommend to wear layers and carry an additional jacket as it becomes windy some times.
Overall a fun day with wild life park where we can pet the unique Australian animals like Koalas, Kangaroos, and , smell of the eucalyptus around the blue mountains, multiple hikes to explore the greenery and fun ride of scenic cable way and railway.
Day 3 : Harbor bridge climb and Opera House show
Day started with Sydney harbour bridge climb. This was an unique experience that is possible in Sydney only. Bridge climb offers different time slots and it is recommended to reserve early. Sun set climbs are little expensive than morning climbs. Safety wise I was impressed with them as they a standard dress, belts, buckles etc., For girls they even gave hair band to tie. Well planned with jacket/rain jacket, head cap etc., No cell phones or cameras. Little disappointing, but they did take good pictures that we can buy. There was head sets for each person, so that it is clearly audible what guide is saying.
Impressively there are so many celebrities that did the Bridge climb from different parts of the world. It’s a 3 and 1/2 hour activity end to end. It’s definitely worth it.
After that we took the Bridge stairs and went to the pier. Awesome views from top of the pier. From there we walked towards the piazza. There were many restaurants in this area.
Sydney Opera house is an experience that you should experience to end the day in Sydney. It is a distinct building in Sydney and it took 14 years to complete the construction. the structure looks like a sail boat in some angles. There were 2 different shows and we picked the one which kids are allowed.
